We make Club Brugge clear favourites at home to RC Lens: Brugge 60.6%, draw 20.2%, Lens 19.1%. The best price we saw on Brugge was 2.15 at 1xBet, against our fair price of 1.65. That is a 14.1 point positive edge. The number is an estimate, not a promise.

Kick-off is 19:00 UTC on Wednesday 21 October at the Jan Breydelstadion, matchday 3 of the Champions League league phase. Both sides have three points from two games.

Our numbers

Outcome Our chance Fair price Best price seen Edge
Club Brugge 60.6% 1.65 2.15, 1xBet +14.1 pts
Draw 20.2% 4.94
RC Lens 19.1% 5.23

The 2.15 was quoted at 04:48 UTC on 18 October, three days out. At 2.15 the market gives Brugge about 46.5%, so we are about 14 points higher. That is a wide gap, wide enough that we went back over the team news before writing it up; why is in why a very wide edge makes us look twice.

What moved the number

  • Brugge arrive scoring freely. FotMob's form guide has them winning 4–3 at Inter last time out in this competition, then 4–1 at La Louvière and 3–0 at home to Genk in the league.
  • Lens may be short at the back. FotMob lists Jonathan Gradit, Maik Nawrocki and Jhoanner Chávez out, plus forward Abdallah Sima. Lineups Today reports a similar list.
  • Lens' European form is mixed. They lost 0–2 at home to Sporting on matchday 2 after winning in Prague, per FotMob. They did win at Troyes on Saturday, a result on our own record.

What could make us wrong

The team news does not agree. Squawka's preview says both clubs have close to full squads, while FotMob and Lineups Today list four Lens players out. If Lens are near full strength, part of our gap disappears. Brugge are missing Joel Ordóñez at centre-back, and their games have been open at both ends: seven goals at Inter, five against Aston Villa. A team that concedes that freely loses more home games than a 60% favourite should.

What this does not tell you

It does not say Brugge will win; on our numbers they fail to roughly four times in ten. It is match result only, no goals or handicap lines. The 2.15 is a timestamp, and this far out the price can move on one training-ground report. Our other Wednesday card is Real Betis v Feyenoord prediction: our chances.
