Members-only Desk calls: what you see and when

Most calls on the BAI8 Desk show only the fixture until you open them. What a members-only call shows, what it hides, and when its numbers become public.

Most calls on the BAI8 Desk are members-only: anyone can see that we have a call on a game, but who we back, our chance and the fair odds open only with a plan's credit. Today the Desk shows 6 calls in full and 18 as members-only. Once a game settles, its call goes on the public record with all its numbers, win or lose. So every call becomes public in the end; the only question is whether you see it before or after kick-off.

What anyone can see

On the card Public call Members-only call
Fixture, competition, kick-off Yes Yes
Market (for example, match result) Yes Yes
When the call was published Yes Yes
Who we back Yes Members
Our chance and fair price Yes Members
Best price, bookmaker, time quoted Yes Members

A members-only card reads "Our call is in", with the line "Who we back, our chance and the fair odds, with every source behind them." Today's members-only calls include Aston Villa v Manchester City and Köln v Schalke. Our previews of those games carry the team news but no BAI8 number: see Aston Villa v Man City preview: team news.

One call, start to finish

Ipswich Town v Nottingham Forest shows the life cycle.

Time (UTC) What happened Who could see the numbers
18 Oct, 00:46 Forest quoted at 2.39, 1xBet
18 Oct, 01:29 Call published on the Desk Members
23 Oct, 19:00 Kick-off at Portman Road Members
23 Oct, 22:14 Settled as lost after a 1–1 draw Everyone

The public record now shows the whole call: Forest at 42.9%, fair price 2.33, against 2.39 at 1xBet, a 1.1 point edge, lost. Our preview of that game was updated with the same numbers in Ipswich v Nottingham Forest preview: team news.

Why the record keeps us honest

Because the publish time and the quote time are on the record, a call cannot be quietly changed once the result is in, and losing calls stay on it next to winning ones. That is the same reason the record counts every settled call, as set out in how a BAI8 call gets settled on the record. Today it holds 243 settled calls: 146 won, 97 lost.

What a plan costs

Prices from the BAI8 plans page on 24 October. There is no free plan.

Plan Per month Credits
Starter $29 15
Regular $49 40
Professional $99 120
Syndicate $999 1,500

What this does not tell you

It does not say a members-only call is better than a public one; both kinds are made the same way and both go on the same record. Seeing a call before kick-off does not make it more likely to win. And the record is still short, so neither kind has been tested over enough games to judge.

Common questions

What is a members-only call on the BAI8 Desk?

A published call whose numbers are shown only to members. Anyone can see the fixture, the competition, the kick-off and the market; who we back, our chance and the fair odds open with a plan's credit.

When do members-only calls become public?

When the match settles. The call then goes on the public Desk record with every number it was published with, win or lose.

How much does a BAI8 plan cost?

Plans start at 29 US dollars a month for Starter, with 15 credits. Regular is 49 dollars with 40 credits and Professional 99 dollars with 120. There is no free plan.

Can a members-only call be changed after kick-off?

No. The record shows the price, the bookmaker and the time it was quoted, and the time the call was published, so a call cannot be swapped once the result is known.
